Mr. Cube by Héctor Serrano

Mr. Cube (for Muji) is a collection of wooden figures with a common central body and interchangeable arms, legs and head. Rearrange and create infinite combinations easily thanks to its internal magnets.

After playing all the parts fit together forming a perfect cube!

Héctor Serrano’s projects combine innovation with the communication of familiar ideas in unusual and inventive ways. Maybe you know his Finger tattos or the Figer puppets for npw.

Dream car by huzi design

What’s your dream car? Do you look for cool design?  Sleek aesthetics? Smart engineering?  Why can’t a dream car have graffiti on it, or have triangular windows, or even not have any resemblance of a movable vehicle?

Thanks to huzi design, you can build your own dream car with interchangeable car bodies, patented magnetic snaps and chalkboard paint finish.

Dream Car by huzi design  is ready to go into production, but they need supporters like you to bring the project to life! You can watch and support this project here (until Sunday Apr 21, 11:59am EDT).

Pico Pao (2): raw materials for experimentation

Pico Pao is a workshop with a long history of craftsmanship that began in 1979 in Lubián, a small Spanish village in the mountains on the border with Portugal. First, they made wooden replicas of old-fashioned toys, along with reproductions of the cameras used by the first street photographers and copies of traditional, pre-industrial looms.

Later their attention was increasingly concentrating to a collection of old-fashioned toys and games both European and African origin (see Juegos de la Antiguedad collection).

Currently Pico Pao is focusing its activity on designing original games. These ones, which belong to the collection Ludus Ludi, are notable for their lack of rules; they can be seen more as exquisite raw materials for poetic experimentation and for the stimulation of abstract thought.

Ludus Ludi are games to develop the creativity, there are games for adults, also for kids just to enjoy building beautiful structures.

You can find their games and know more about their story on their website, full of little treasures.

House of games by Dombon-a-tanya

The three-storied object is hold together by the games inside. The games are partly made of wood (domino, mikado, dice and the pencils), others are made of paper (cards, board games and the booklets).

Dombon-a-tanya - recreate well known objects in a contemporary way. They  unite the knowledge of craftsman generations and the modern and clear-out way of thinking and design.

Check out their Box couture project (we fell in love!) and their e-shop.

Playing with cards and blocks

The 36  wooden building blocks and 26  illustrated ABC flash cards, introduce curious and creative kids to the fundamentals of architecture and design, with each letter referencing a particular concept or idea; A is for Arch, D is for Dome, M is for Material, W is for Wallpaper.

Combining the wooden blocks and flash cards encourages imagination and children’s desire to build their own cities, towers or space stations - developing both learning and creativity.

B’kid
Barcelona-based product designer Noelia Vallano has designed a bicycle that grows with your childs.
B’Kid takes a fun and safe approach to teaching young children to ride, giving them the confidence and balance necessary for the transition to pedals without stability. And the parents only need to deal with one object instead of 3, from age 2 to 6.

Wooden LEGO blocks by Mokurokku

Japanese firm Mokurokku hopes to get you feel closer to nature with their new wooden bricks.

Each box of mokulock bricks includes 50 pieces. They seem to be compatible with standard LEGO pieces, and we would want to see sets of mixed plastic and wood construction on different textures and colors.
