Atasco by Abel Jiménez

Cars, cars and more cars…There is a Car Jam! (Atasco in Spanish).

Atasco!! is an easily deployed zine for children by Abel Jiménez, a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Valencia.

But there is more. Abel Jimenez and Marta Insa manage Paiorfa, a zine publishing project for children in collaboration with artists and illustrators (coming soon on this blog).

Abitacolo: Bruno Munari’s Kid Space Machine (1971)

image

Munari’s abitacolo is a place to hang clothes, store toys, affix art and to sleep.

image

It’s adaptable to the personality of the inhabitant, at every moment transformable

Munari described it this way:

two meters high

it’s made of steel with an epoxy skin

it’s a structure reduced to the essentials

a space delimited and yet open

adaptable to one or two poeple

it can even hold twenty

although this is not recommended because

of the difficulty of moving

it weighs fifty-one kilos

it’s two meters wide by eighty centimeters

it’s a large object that casts no shadow

it’s an inhabitable module

it’s a habitat

it contains all personal things

it’s a container of microcosms

it’s a placenta of plastic-coated steel

a place to meditate

and at the same time

a place for listening to music that you like

a place to read and study

a place to recieve visitors

a place to sleep

a lair, light and transparent

or closed

a space hidden in the midst of people

a real space

your presence renders furnishings superfluous

dust doesn’t know where to settle

it’s the minimum but gives the maximum

numbered but unlimited

habitat is the environment

adaptable to the personality of the inhabitant

at every moment transformable

Veo Veo: Mon Oncle

image

image

When Marc Sardà and Mon Oncle get together, they can not avoid talking about design, play and imagination.

These conversations are the starting point of the new Mon Oncle SS 2013 campaign entitled:

VEO VEO: What do you see?

Check out the great videos that they launched onto social networks, a  special I see I see game.

And here is the collection. Besides bow ties and collars, we will find cloth toys, aprons, pendants, medals …

a handgrip of swords for different kind of stick

a horse’s head to put on the broomstick

and of course, the snake, the ballerina, the castle, the train…

It’s going to be a fun summer!

Dream car by huzi design

What’s your dream car? Do you look for cool design?  Sleek aesthetics? Smart engineering?  Why can’t a dream car have graffiti on it, or have triangular windows, or even not have any resemblance of a movable vehicle?

Thanks to huzi design, you can build your own dream car with interchangeable car bodies, patented magnetic snaps and chalkboard paint finish.

Dream Car by huzi design  is ready to go into production, but they need supporters like you to bring the project to life! You can watch and support this project here (until Sunday Apr 21, 11:59am EDT).

The project that we present today is dated 2008 but we discovered it recently and we have thought is worth sharing.

Caracool Playground by Joel Escalona is designed to be a amusing slide. We are sure that the children will have fun gliding and playing in it!

See more Joel Escalona’s works on his website.

Slowers

image

image

Slowers produces nice and practical kids espadrilles (and for adult ones too). The espadrilles are made by a family business located in a small town in Spain, where they are hand sewn. The raw materials are certified organic cotton and jute.

We like the velcro closure for the children’s models: perfect to run (and dance, play or jump) and keep the shoe!

Kinetic creatures: walking cardboard animal kits

image

image

image

image

Kinetic Creatures are a set of three walking cardboard animal sculptures.

The Creatures, Elly the Elephant, Rory the Rhino, and Geno the Giraffe, are each made up of cardboard pieces that you assemble using tabs-and-slots. By turning the wire handle, you make the creatures come alive with a simple mechanical motion. Also they can walk with mechanical and electrical additions, such as Lego motors or Motor Kit

Kinetic Creatures is a collaboration between Lucas Ainsworth, an Industrial designer and Alyssa Hamel, a Visual Arts Teacher and artist.

How do they work? More here
